To convert a weight in kilograms to grams, just multiply the weight by 1,000 (one thousand).
For example, to find out how many grams are in 8 kilograms, we do:
8 x 1,000 = 8,000 g
So 8 kilos represented in grams is 8,000 thousand grams.
Kilos (kg) | Grams (g) |
1 kg | 1,000g |
5 kg | 5,000g |
10 kg | 10,000g |
15 kg | 15,000g |
20 kg | 20,000g |
50 kg | 50,000g |
The definition of the kilogram was conceived in 1889, that is, years ago. At the time scientists determined that a small cylinder measuring only 4 centimeters would be the standard model to determine weight, and this would weigh 1 kilogram, see below the actual photo of the cylinder:
But in 2018, the scientific community created another measurement standard for 1 kg, this is because the weight conceived there in 1889 loses mass, that is, it loses weight over the years. It's like the material is deteriorating. And the solution was the creation of what was baptized as the Watt Balance, see a picture of it:
Weight in Kilo (kg) | Unit of measurement | Equivalence | Equivalence in Kg |
1 kg | Nanogram (ng) | 1,000,000,000,000 ng | 0.000000000001 kg |
1 kg | Milligram (mg) | 1,000,000 mg | 0.000001 kg |
1 kg | Centigram (cg) | 100,000 cg | 0.00001 kg |
1 kg | Decigram (dg) | 10,000 dg | 0.0001 kg |
1 kg | Gram (g) | 1,000 g | 0.001 kg |
1 kg | Decagram (dag) | 100 dag | 0.01 kg |
1 kg | Hectogram (hg) | 10 hg | 0.1 kg |
1 kg | Pounds (lb) | 2.20462 lb | 0.453592 kg |
1 kg | Ounces (oz) | 35.27396 oz | 0.028349 kg |
1 kg | Kilogram (kg) | 1 kg | 1 kg |
1 kg | at sign (@) | 0.06667 @ | 15 kg |
1 kg | Tonne (t) | 0.001 t | 1,000 kg |
The conversion of weight into different units of measurement takes place in two ways, multiplication and division, see:
Note that starting from kilo to milligram, that is, reducing the unit of measurement, multiplication applies, for example, to convert 1.750 (kg) (One kilogram and seven hundred and fifty grams) into grams you will do:
(1,750 x 10 x 10 x 10) = 1,750g
Now if you have a weight in milligrams (1,750mg) and want to know how much it would be in grams, you do:
(1.750 / 10 / 10 / 10) = 0.175g
